Adversarial · Red Team Assessment

Test your defenses against
a real adversary.

Advanced adversary simulation testing your organization's detection and response capabilities across people, process, and technology.

What is a Red Team assessment?

Red Team assessments simulate real-world adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by advanced persistent threats (APTs) and sophisticated threat actors. Unlike traditional penetration testing focused on finding vulnerabilities, Red Team operations test your organization's ability to detect, respond to, and contain a realistic cyber attack across multiple vectors.

Our Red Team exercises are goal-oriented engagements designed to mirror the behavior of actual attackers, including reconnaissance, social engineering, physical intrusion, and exploitation of technical vulnerabilities. We operate covertly to test your security operations center (SOC), incident response team, and security controls in a realistic scenario.

Red Team vs.
penetration testing.

Understanding the difference helps you choose the right security assessment for your needs.

Traditional Penetration Testing

  • Focuses on finding as many vulnerabilities as possible
  • Known to IT and security teams
  • Broad scope, comprehensive vulnerability assessment
  • Tests technical security controls
  • Typically 1–2 weeks duration
  • Produces detailed vulnerability report
  • Goal: Identify weaknesses

Red Team Assessment

  • Focuses on achieving specific objectives covertly
  • Unknown to most staff, tests detection capabilities
  • Narrow scope, goal-oriented attack simulation
  • Tests people, processes, and technology
  • Typically 4–8 weeks duration
  • Produces strategic security posture assessment
  • Goal: Test detection and response

What we simulate.

Our Red Team operations employ a comprehensive range of attack vectors and techniques.

Assumed Breach

Starting from an internal foothold to test your ability to detect and contain lateral movement and data exfiltration.

External Attack Chain

Full attack chain from external reconnaissance through initial access to achieving strategic objectives while evading detection.

Social Engineering

Multi-vector campaigns including phishing, vishing, and physical pretexting to test human defenses and awareness.

Physical Intrusion

On-site testing including tailgating, badge cloning, lock picking, and unauthorized access to restricted areas.

Cloud Infrastructure

Targeting AWS, Azure, and GCP to test cloud security controls, IAM configurations, and data protection.

Mobile & Wireless

Exploiting mobile devices, wireless networks, and IoT devices to gain initial access or move laterally.

Supply Chain Attack

Simulating attacks through trusted vendors and service providers to test vendor risk management.

Data Exfiltration

Testing data loss prevention controls and the ability to detect unauthorized access to sensitive information.

Red Team operations
methodology.

Our Red Team operations follow industry-standard frameworks and real-world attacker methodologies.

01

Planning & Objectives

Defining clear goals, rules of engagement, scope boundaries, and emergency stop procedures.

02

Reconnaissance

Passive and active intelligence gathering using OSINT, social media, and network scanning.

03

Initial Access

Gaining first foothold via phishing, external vulnerabilities, or supply chain compromise.

04

Establish Persistence

Ensuring continued access through backdoors and covert channels that evade detection.

05

Privilege Escalation

Elevating privileges through exploitation, credential theft, or misconfiguration.

06

Lateral Movement

Moving through the network using pass-the-hash and token impersonation while avoiding detection.

07

Objective Achievement

Accomplishing defined goals such as accessing sensitive data or compromising critical systems.

08

Reporting & Debrief

Comprehensive reporting on tactics used, gaps identified, and strategic recommendations.

MITRE ATT&CK
framework coverage.

Our Red Team operations map to the MITRE ATT&CK framework, the globally-recognized knowledge base of adversary tactics and techniques.

TA0001

Initial Access

Techniques used to gain initial foothold including phishing and exploiting public-facing applications.

TA0002

Execution

Validating detection of malicious code execution via PowerShell, scripting, and scheduled tasks.

TA0003

Persistence

Testing identification of techniques used to maintain access across reboots and credential changes.

TA0004

Privilege Escalation

Attempting to gain higher-level permissions through exploitation and token manipulation.

TA0005

Defense Evasion

Testing techniques to avoid detection including obfuscation and disabling security tools.

TA0006

Credential Access

Attempting to steal credentials through dumping, brute force, and network sniffing.

TA0007

Discovery

Testing detection of reconnaissance activities including network scanning and account discovery.

TA0008

Lateral Movement

Validating monitoring of techniques used to move through the network via remote services.

TA0009

Collection

Testing identification of data gathering activities including screen capture and keylogging.

TA0010

Exfiltration

Attempting to steal data through various channels while testing DLP and egress monitoring.
